Mrs. Miranda Abbot Amachree (Nee David-West) is a highly accomplished civil servant with over 25 years’ experience in environmental protection. In the course of her career, she has transversed the various stages of environmentalism in Nigeria, from the old Federal Ministry of Works and Housing to the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (FEPA), the present Federal Ministry of Environment and then moved to the National Environmental Standards & Regulations Enforcement Agency (NESREA) as a Pioneer staff where she is currently the Director, Inspection and Enforcement Department.
In her role as the Director, Inspection and Enforcement Department, She is responsible for coordinating the enforcing compliance with the National environmental laws, regulations, standards, guidelines and policies on industrial Pollution and hazardous chemicals management. She has initiated and leads a number of projects to combat the trading, transporting, trans-boundary movement of hazardous waste and their disposal towards implementation of the Multilateral Environmental Agreements (MEAs) to which Nigeria is signatory, among others.
Until the appointment of the substantive DG/CEO, NESREA, she successfully piloted the affairs of the Agency as the Acting Director General/CEO
She hails from Buguma, River State, Nigeria. And she holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from the University of Port Harcourt, Master of Science Degree in Environmental Sanitation from University of Ghent, Belgium and numerous certificate courses both home and abroad.
Mrs. Miranda A. Amachree is a member of many professional bodies and a distinguished fellow of the Occupational Safety, Health and Environment (OSHA) and Waste Management Society of Nigeria (WAMASON).
She is a practicing Christian and happily married with four children.
